Skiffling Rag

An old outfit! A new post.

NOW it is time to read. :D

Shuffling Waltz

I would be wearing shoes, but it's impossible for redone pedicures to dry that way. :)

Today is a good day, a lazy productive start to what will eventually be a harsh week. It's nice, also, to be able to walk out in long sleeves and leggings again, and still eat ice cream in the sun with a friend for lunch.

Same friend has just proved that I'd save money by using a photocopier instead of my own personal printer. It blows my mind.

I just made a return on an object I couldn't afford, and I have too much nail polish--I love them all, and I'm still excitingly waiting for the ones I'vev just bought but seriously. No more buying things unless I need it!

Like a new pair of earphones. My poor iconic hot pink ones are going--their age is beginning to show in the sudden decrease in quality.

Sigh.

Time to read.

Crud.

Guys, O Magnum Mysterium still makes me cry. Without fail.

Every time.

There is NOTHING like hearing or playing this live.

My chamber choir is practicing this piece and using that particular version for inspiration on what we think it should sound like--I've never, ever, even when practicing at home in my room ALONE, gone through this piece completely. I always get choked up. Six months later, still choking.

Kind of concerned, though. We intend on performing in the new church but there are no acoustics--at all. It's been designed that way.

Might as well sing into a hat is all I'm saying--this piece relies on the place to echo and vibrate with it.

Anyway. Listen to it. :D

Striped

Sweater: H&M. Boots: Chinese Laundry. Ring: Sears. Necklace: Forever21.

YES, I AM WEARING PANTS.

Although, I must admit, I enjoy the interrupted conversations and the stares whenever I walked past people on the way to school today. You could almost hear the "Is she not wearing pants?" thought go by.

Well, I am. I don't like wardrobe accidents. People make shorts way shorter than hemlines, nowadays, which is convenient for my pantslessness. Get over it.

On another note, I tried CB I Hate Perfume's Russian Caravan Tea (ordered a bunch of samples)... and it is glorious. It reminds me of my old roommate, or a just-dusted room, or just sitting somewhere nice with a good book. It is a great, light, pleasant smell.

Too bad it isn't mine.

Sorry for Deth

Floral tunic: Urban outfitters, Boots-Chinese Laundry, Cat-Somewhere, Hat-Shoes And Your Mom

I've been wandering around everywhere in those boots and in really long shirts lately. It suits the weather and the sudden weight gain (which I am trying to lose before halloween, when I am even trying to lose anything at all!)

My life is so upended that I can't really concentrate on anything except "What Should Be Done Next".

Oh, and "When Is My Next Cup of Coffee?"

Except, iono, I'm feeling very good today physically (good hair day!) so I decided to take pictures and post the ones I've worn a while ago.

This one was a while ago.

Recipes in Bottles

I am made up of the things I love to keep:

the bad-breath coffee aftertaste, acrid on the tongue.
the lingering smell of dark chocolate, disappointing sour.
the look of dead flowers.
inky pens.
the vanilla smell of books.
fingerstained eyeglasses.
unraveling scarves.
broken green rosaries.
wilting unframed photos of people looking at the floor.
crackled leather.
the woodenhouse wail of angel-headed choirs.
empty green winebottles.
moist petals.
dark, dry wood.
dust
on top of bookshelves.

Nail Polish: RBL Grunge

GODS I miss this color.

This is Rescue Beauty Lounge Grunge, taken and swatched last summer while I was still studying Latin in my apartment. Rescue Beauty Lounge is typically classified as a mushroomy, band-aid-but-better (BABB) color, and one of those super-chic neutrals that have become the IN-THING this Fall.

On me, it looks a little pink--it's not an exact match for my skin tone, obviously, but that's why I like it.

This is two coats--so yes, the polish is very opaque--and has a slight golden shimmer that one does not notice in the bottle although it becomes evident (but difficult to see) on the nail. (In the sun.) I quite like it; it makes the polish really interesting. Oh, and of course, Grunge wears like iron.

Okay. I love this polish. I really do. Out of all the RBLs I bought this summer (and I am in love with ALL OF THEM), Grunge is definitely the favorite. I can wear it anywhere. It looks good with everything. My hands look neat and clean and professional and chic simultaneously. It is synonymous with elegance and sophistication, despite the name. And--even better--despite the elegance, there is something incredibly moody about the color. It's a bit more sullen than your average pink or neutral, and that, I suppose, is where the mushroominess comes in.

I keep perceiving that Grunge looks as though it has a dark base (although it DOESN'T)--like a pink painted over a black. Blow up the pictures and see if you see it, too--and that's yet another reason why I love this color.

I didn't bring it back home with me during the summer, and I kind of sort of deeply wish I did. Sigh. Grunge, I miss you. They should never ever discontinue this color--I can imagine wearing this for the rest of my life without gathering weird looks.
